Your town’s leaderboard

Global totals are a vanity stat. The leaderboard that actually matters is the one on your own doorstep.

What a leaderboard covers

Your town’s leaderboard covers the town around wherever you are running, and the standings are simply who currently holds the most cells inside it. One town is one leaderboard, so your whole usual patch counts towards the same table. Move to a different town or city and you are on a different leaderboard on the same map.

On Foot and On Wheels

The reason is simple arithmetic. A bike covers roughly four times the ground of a walk in the same hour, so putting the two in one table is not a race, it is a formality. Two boards give a walker a table they can actually top, and a rider one worth winning.

Capturing ground does not change one bit. There is one map and one set of hexes, everybody plays for the same ground, and nothing is handicapped or discounted for being on wheels. A rider takes a walker’s street exactly as a walker takes it back, and shields, fade and loops all behave the same whatever you were on.

A hex counts on the board of whoever holds it right now. Ride a street off a walker and it moves to the wheels board with you; walk it back and it returns to the foot board. So you can appear on both boards at once, with the hexes each one currently holds for you, and your two lane counts add up to the ground you hold in the town.

A town with no riders in it yet shows an empty wheels board on purpose. That is not a missing feature, it is a vacant crown: the first ride there takes it.

Legs and Campaign

Each of those boards is scored two ways, on purpose.

Legs Board. Pure running and riding: how many cells you currently hold. No gear, boosts or items touch this number in any way. This is the board that decides titles.
Campaign Board. A separate points total, LP, that gear can modulate. Boots and boosts can push your LP a little higher than the raw ground you covered was worth, capped so no stack of items is ever worth more than half again the actual claim.

How standings update

Both the Legs Board and the Campaign Board are live, not a snapshot taken on a schedule. The Legs Board reflects whatever cells are currently held once fade has done its work, so it moves the moment claims lapse or get taken over, not just when someone uploads a new run. The On Foot and On Wheels split is live in the same way: a hex changes board the moment it changes hands. The Campaign Board is a running season total that adds up as you claim.

LP on the Campaign Board comes from gear in your stash, and cells come from claiming and defending territory.
